European Conference on Palliative Care “Less suffering.. more dignity.. better quality of life” organized by Ministry of Health of Republic of Serbia in cooperation with Council of Europe is opened today in Belgrade in Hotel Hyatt Regency.

Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Predrag Markovic, pointed in his welcoming address at the opening of European Conference on Palliative Care that work as a chairman of the National Assembly is fasting up legal activities in which we will define a legal frame for palliative care.

“First we have to bring laws that will build the system. In Serbia we are working on two sides: one is making a system and the country according to European standards and on the other side is the whole line of problems that were not known until now and we have to build the network, financed and grantee something to the citizens in the name of the state.”

He also added that while Serbia is dealing with great problems, problems that were marginalized have to be recognized also. Question of palliative care is supposed to solve the whole line of problems, that first of all it has to be legally solved and after that health and social services should take care of the process of implementation of palliative care.
