TO THE CONFERENCE ON PALLIATIVE CARE IN BELGRADE

The Ministry of Health Republic Serbia, in co-operation with the Council of Europe, is organising a European Conference on Palliative Care which will take place in Hyatt Regency Hotel, Belgrade on 20-21 October 2005. The aim of the conference is to bring together health ministry official from 46 Council of Europe member states together with health professionals and representatives of the voluntary sector and civil society in the framework of the Council of Europe Recommendation (Rec(2003)24) on the organisation of palliative care.

"Our country is one of the few in Europe that have recently recognised this specific problem, and has not so far defined the place and role of palliative care within its health care system. Therefore, this Conference and its organisation in our country will considerably upgrade better understanding of the concept of palliative care and its acceptance by professionals and public, and will also contribute to its faster development and integration in national health care system."
